They say that having children changes you and it's true. It was not but after I had my own that I started to think how families are affected by liver disease specially children. Having my own medical issues also made me realize how children are impacted by their parents health. This is how I got involved in writing books. Since I needed to have the book narrated from a child's perspective what better coauthor than my own so I asked my son Gabriel to help. He unfortunately had also been exposed to medical problems at an early age so along with his wit and creativity and our excellent illustrator we became perfect partners.
Our most recent book came to exist out of further need to support children on education and prevention on liver diseases. We hope you enjoy reading them as much as we enjoyed writing them.

Dicen que después de tener hijos te cambia la vida para siempre y es verdad. Al tener los míos me di cuenta de la necesidad de educar a los pequeños acerca de las enfermedades del hígado y por eso decidí escribir. Mi hijo Gabriel me ayudo a entrar a la mente de los ninos para que así fuera mas eficiente el mensaje. Su creatividad y sus ideas han sido clave y para mi ha sido un honor poder participar con el.

This book is about Henry, a young boy whose father is dealing with liver disease. Henry is observing all the changes that his father is experiencing and how that is impacting the whole family and the relationship with his dad. Henry is the narrator and tells the story from his perspective. The book is intended to give hope to children experiencing similar stories as well as to ease any anxiety or fear they may be experiencing and to help parents talk openly about the topic.

Este libro trata acerca de Andrés y su papa quien está enfermo del hígado y necesita un trasplante. Andrés observa los cambios en su papa y como esta afecta su vida familiar. Andrés es el narrado y cuenta su relato desde su punto de vista. Este libro tiene la intención de ayudar a los padres a explicarles a sus hijos pequeños acerca de lo que el hígado, cirrosis y la necesidad de un trasplante así como sobre la importancia de la donación de órganos. Fatty liver can progress into cirrhosis , liver failure and increases the risk of liver cancer. There is currently no treatment for fatty liver other than healthy habits, so prevention is paramount. We must work together to improve the health of future generations.
